It’s So Hard to Book.

We’ve all been there. It’s time to get your hair done and you want to find someone new. Perhaps your current stylist has been disappointing you lately; they don’t know how to invisibly lay your frontal like the stylists that you see on Instagram, or you feel some type of grisly loyalty because a close friend or family member recommended them. Either way, you’re not happy with the services that you are receiving, and you’re on a mission to find someone new. Someone who is in your city, has consistently excellent work, and prices that are in your budget -- but where do you start to look for this professional, and how do you book an appointment?

For most people, this search typically begins within the chaotic pit that is Instagram hashtags. We’ve all been there -- scrolling for hours sifting through irrelevant spam content and fraudulent pages to find the services that we’re looking for. Although hashtags provide a central place for inspo, they are unorganized and time consuming. For example, you’re looking for a stylist in NYC but people from Dallas, ATL and Chicago pop up in that feed. This problem is further amplified by the fact that Instagram was created and functions as a platform for users to share images and videos with their audience. To keep it a stack, Instagram is simply not a platform that prioritizes the needs of beauty professionals or their clients, but rather a place where the algorithm forces users to prioritize engagement (likes, comments, shares, and saves) over needs.
So where does that leave us? On Facebook with the parents, aunties and uncles buying, selling and playing Bejeweled 3? Or on Twitter sorting through the memes, trolls and politicians for legitimate beauty professionals?
The truth of the matter is that there is no social media app in the market that is ideal for the needs of the modern- day beauty professional and client. At least, before Ruthless there wasn’t.
Ruthless Reviews Official is a beauty and grooming booking and scheduling social platform. It is the first and only mobile app that is dedicated to the needs of the modern beauty professional and the clients who are looking to book their services. This interactive application takes clients out of the messiness of mainstream social media, and brings them into a cleaner, more organized experience: a place where you can search for beauty professionals by location, price and reputation. But where are we with this vision today?
*Drumroll please* closer than ever, yet further away than we should be due to the lack of funding for black women in the technology space! While our project is near completion, we need a tolerable amount of capital to take us across the finish line and into the app store. Follow us on our journey by subscribing to our newsletter, engaging with us on Instagram and Twitter, and joining our community on Facebook.
See you later Candids!
